Cloudy, with a chance of fraud…Cloud computing is hot right now, and with good reason. C/D/H has successfully migrated services to the cloud for a number of clients, predominantly e-mail. But as we define IT strategies with our clients, reservations about this new paradigm, perhaps rightly, center on potential loss of data control and security concerns.
I know what they mean.
My stepbrother’s Gmail account was compromised recently. The first thing the hacker did, of course, was change the account password, to lock him out. Then the hacker e-mailed everyone in the address book, claiming he was on vacation, had been mugged, had lost all of his cash, credit cards and cell phone, and was now stranded, owing a large hotel bill.
