Is Google Apps workplace-ready?
Google has made some bold turf grabs in Microsoft’s traditional fiefdom of workplace-productivity products recently.
According to PC World, Google claimed last November that 20 million people — including more than 7 million students — use Google Apps, and more than 2 million businesses use it, with thousands more signing up daily.
That may not sound like Google’s snagged much of Big Blue’s 500-million-user acreage, but it was enough to make Microsoft create the Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) — a cloud-based version of Office Suite, Exchange e-mail, SharePoint and Office Communicator.
But most enterprises are still choosing between Google Apps and traditional onsite apps for the workplace. So, how to choose?
